Born in Socorro, New Mexico and raised in New Jersey and North Carolina. Karen moved to Decatur in 1987.

Karen graduated from Ragsdale Senior High School in Jamestown, NC and received a bachelor’s degree in public administration from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. She was employed by the City of Decatur in the Planning Department for almost 30 years. Where she worked with developers and community leaders every day.

Karen loves being involved in the community and has been involved in multiple school PTA organizations, Austin Band Boosters, Austin Athletic Boosters, Decatur Youth Soccer Board, Carnegie Carnival, River Clay Arts Festival, The Morgan County Decatur Farmers Market and other community groups. She is a graduate of Leadership Decatur.

Karen loves the commercial development process and enjoys helping developers work through the processes involved in bringing new things to our community.
